Who are we?

Myles Cooper

Myles Cooper

A casual teenage job clearing a backyard led a decade later to Myles selling his waste company and its fleet of trucks – the largest independent operator North of the Harbour bridge – to Fulton Hogan, and then managing the North Island for Envirowaste. Other General Manager and CEO roles followed, plus a spell consulting. After a spell at the helm growing Ash Air to a dozen branches, he founded CML with Paul in 2011.

A keen motorsport enthusiast, Myles spends a bit of time going round Hampton Downs when he can escape from house renovation. Based in Remuera, he has a keen appreciation for a good red and enjoys sharing a story or two with friends, though as he and wife Desiree have 8 children between them, time for recreation is limited!

Biggest challenge to date

Ensuring that we don’t grow too quickly and being patient with so many quality opportunities available.

Paul Ayers

Paul Ayers

After a decade as a Royal Navy Navigating Officer that took him from Arctic fjords to Colombian islands and the South China Sea to the Gulf of Guinea, Paul wound up managing –  and then consulting to – industrial businesses in Auckland. He is a passionate believer that the devil is in the detail somewhere, and that structure will point to the answer. He asserts that what a life in the military taught him is that a problem is not over when it’s no longer in front of you, but only once you know why you weren’t ready for it in the first place.

Having spent a bit of time diving, fishing and with Coastguard, Paul now spends his time on the water kitesurfing or racing catamarans at Clarks Beach (see video). On dry land he plays squash competitively, roller blades frequently and does a bit of multisport. Based in Karaka, with his wife Xara, a photographer, he has a son Tom and daughter Evie.

Biggest challenge to date

Setting up the pipeline plant from scratch.

What he enjoys most about the role

Watching great leaders grow their companies and seeing their staff grow with them, it’s very fulfilling.
