Hermetica – Promains is pioneering a step forward in watermain repair with its exclusive arrangement to market and distribute the Spanish-made permanent pipe repair clamp to the NZ market. Contemporary solutions require a temporary seal on a broken pipe, which then needs further, lengthy, expensive repair: Hermetica’s seal now replaces this costly process with a quick, easy and permanent fix, saving the ratepayer considerable amounts of money.

National Springs takes delivery of a further forming machine, to complement the previous year’s addition of two more coiling machines to its modern stable of production machinery. The company intends to reinvest annually in its general wire-forming equipment to match a continuing growth in demand.

Solo confirms that both PVC forming machines are now installed in Avondale. The machines, which bend PVC pipe, were delayed by Covid but are now in a position to meet the growing demand for conduit and bend in the NZ market.

Solo announces completion of its contribution to the St Marys Bay outfall project. As well as manufacturing and supplying a wide range of fittings, Solo’s onsite welding teams joined the 500m long 1600mm diameter pipe on a beach in Miranda before the finished article was then towed to Auckland to be sunk in situ.

National Springs has vastly increased its oven capacity thanks to the arrival of a new, massive industrial oven which can treat up to 800kg of springs at 500 degrees. “we got the awesome CNC lathe, learnt how to make garage door springs, then needed a lot more oven capacity, here it is – so she’s all on now!” General Manager Mike Baird explained.

Solo provides large manifolds and other fittings for the new Pukekohe wastewater treatment plant. Solo’s unique cutting, fabrication and welding capabilities for HDPE allow for design engineers to demand the shapes they want for optimum handling of the wastewater, and not be constrained by the rigidity of other materials such as concrete.

National Springs moves into its 1600 sqm new building in Boundary Road, Papakura. Not only is it a brand-new building twice the size of the old one, the business is a caring employer which hopes that by locating somewhere closer to affordable housing, the next generation of spring-makers can establish roots nearby.

Promains opens its first new branch which is located in South Auckland. Sharing the premises of sister company National Springs, Promains Papakura will stock the full range of water main products with which Promains supports its Utility, Civil and Subdivision Contractor customer base.

Manawatu Cold Store

Manawatu Cold Store opens new store Room 7 and is able to add chicken to the lamb, beef and pork already stored. The facility, which can handle an additional 1800 pallets also features a large new ELA (Environmental Loading Area) and allows the cold store to support nearby poultry producers as well as livestock meat and dairy.
