SANDS

Sands Industries, National Springs’ South Island subsidiary, has been busy fabricating more blast racks for sister company Manawatu Cold Storage. As their throughput of chilled meat (which they bring down to -20C prior to storage and export) has doubled recently, they have invested in the racks which are vital to the logistics of the process. “We were only too happy to help a sister company grow” said new Sands manager Warren Park as he waved off a full B train to Palmerston North

K2 Oven (8.1)

Viking kayaks announces the return to full production capacity with the commissioning of its second kayak oven, a super-fast moulding system that will enable Viking to supply their domestic, Australasian and export orders with ease. Following the fire a year ago, Viking had been relying on just one oven brought out of mothballs, and assistance from Galloway – though their equipment was not suited for swift production of kayaks.

Infrapipe 3.2m diameter pipe

Infrapipe makes its first 3.2m diameter pipe. Following the arrival of the giant 3.2m mandrel after 7 months of manufacture in Tauranga, Infrapipe quickly got to work making the largest plastic pipe ever made in NZ and – we believe – the largest in the S Hemisphere. As the picture shows, there isn’t much to spare when it comes out of the door!

INF Fieldays

Infrapipe joins Galloways at the rescheduled Fieldays from 30 Nov 22 to 3 Dec 22; whilst Galloways has been a mainstay at Fieldays for decades, this was Infrapipe’s first appearance and their giant solutions for fluid management went down well with the 75,000 visitors. The two companies’ products complement each other neatly and both make for striking visual displays of what can be achieved with HDPE.

Hermetica seals

Promains also played an integral part of the Nelson job with Infrapipe with its unique Hermetica seals. This technology provides an instantaneous, permanent mechanical seal and is now in widespread use because Promains introduced these Spanish-made products to the NZ market. “”There is no other solution available that can do what Hermetica does and this is typical of the way that we at Promains actively seek out cutting-edge technologies globally for the benefit of the NZ water authorities” expounded GM Richard Eardly, “and this kind of urgent high-profile large diameter requirement is the perfect example of the way that Promains keeps the water flowing for Kiwis.”
