Infrapipe

Did you ever wonder exactly what happened to the pipes built at the rush in September by Infrapipe for the city of Nelson? They were then welded together on site and joined with Hermetica couplers (see next article) to bridge an enormous landslip and restore the primary source of drinking water to the city. To achieve this with steel or concrete would have taken years, not 6 weeks and cost a fortune. But Infrapipe’s spiral-wound HDPE is light, cheap, fast and effective. See these before and after photos showing the scale of the job, and read more detail in this Stuff article:

Channell Bulk

Solo launches their new Channell power bulk pit range for multiple connections in a single in-ground box for electrical or data (data on site only). Sister company Promains has been the supplier of the water bulk pit range produced by world-leading US-based injection moulding company Channell for a number of years and quintupled volumes, so it was a natural fit for Channell to seek distribution thorough Solo’s network of electrical merchant customers nationwide.

Manawatu Cold Storage

Manawatu Cold Store has been able to increase its sorting area to accommodate the increasing number of export meat containers it processes for NZ beef and lamb producers. Infrapipe have been doing their bit to help the shattered citizens of Nelson rebuild after the deluge of 17-18 August. Whereas a concrete pipe needs 6 weeks to cure, HDPE culverts made to the specific size required to replace those damaged in the deluge were ready to ship the next day. That’s technology making a difference!

Viking Kayaks

Viking kayaks joins Galloway Group. Following the fire which completely destroyed their factory in Feb 2022, owners the Montague family decided to sell Viking kayaks to Galloway which has the resources needed to restore the brand, and the complementary products (such as Smartwave boats) to expand export operations further. Nevertheless, the design, manufacture and commissioning of replacement moulds is not expected to be complete until the end of 2022, despite Galloway’s best efforts, such was the devastation caused by the fire.
